Pain is very much a part of life, there’s no getting around that. But how to deal with your pain is what’s really important. As much as we hate the fact that people hurt us we know it’s going to happen. So we try protecting ourselves by building walls and shutting others out.
No one like pain. No one asks for hurt. No one.
But no matter how high we build the walls or how many people we shut out we still find ourselves hurt and broken. The question ‘why’ usually goes hand-in-hand with our experience with hurt.
Why would God let me go through that?
If God is so good why didn’t he stop that from happening?
If He loves me so much why doesn’t he take my pain away?
Why does he let bad things happen to good people?
Why, why, why?
The question why creates more pain because we may never know why God allowed us to hurt in that way or feel that pain.
The Bible says, “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”
Matthew 5:45 KJV
As humans we tend to constantly ask the question why.
Many people try to avoid the pain they are feeling but this just creates a cycle they end up feeling trapped in.
How to deal with pain in a healthy way:
• Talk about it. Do not keep silent, that only allows it to grow deeper.
• Cry of you feel the need. There are so many people feel like it is a sign weakness to cry but it’s not. I promise.
• Start writing a journal. This is something I do. It is a good way to release emotional pain.
• Identify unhealthy thinking patterns. Try and recognize your negative thinking patters so that you can work towards changing them.
• Look forward. Start thinking about where you wanna be when the pain finally passes. This will help you keep progressing while you are still hurting.
• And finally prayer. This is one of the best outlets for releasing pain. You can tell God every tiny detail of how you are feeling and guess what? He won’t tell anyone and he won’t walk away.
God is the one you need to turn to. I’m not saying don’t talk to your leaders and parents, because those people are placed in your life for things like that. But God also wants you to talk to him.
Pain is inevitable but it doesn’t have to define us.
Pain is a part of life but we don’t have to live with it.
We’ve heard the saying, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Well, it’s true. But you have to allow it to make you stronger.
God can take your hurts and he can make them into something beautiful.
Trust Him, He knows what he is doing.
